Beauty of Community

community |kəˈmyo͞onədē| noun (plural communities) 1 a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common: They were a strong community–a sisterhood.

This week I’ll be sharing my heart and vision for Equipped by Faith at our May monthly gathering. EBF was started in 2014 when I felt God leading me to create a space where women of all cultures, backgrounds, and denominations could come together to experience community through real stories of triumph, victory, and encouragement.

As I prepare for Wednesday, I keep thanking God for the community He has created since then. Last week, I was blessed by attending the Social Girls spring event with my dear friend and former EBF speaker, Taylor Madu. I love how God is moving through Taylor and that ministry the same way He is working through EBF. God is drawing women together into faith-filled communities all over the city–through Social Girls, Equipped by Faith, and now, through E-Groups.   

God is creating places of genuine sisterhood. I love when women can gather together and cheer one another on, rather than competing and striving to be better than someone else. I believe we are called to help and encourage one another–especially as women of faith. That’s what Equipped by Faith was created for–and that’s what we’ll continue to do.

We had a meeting with some of our EBF leaders last week and I was reminded just how grateful I am for the women God has brought into this ministry. Each of them brings unique gifts and abilities to this ministry that God is using for His purpose and glory. Each of them brings something to the table that I could never bring on my own. There is so much power in community.

"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up." Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Two are better than one. This verse has proven true in my life over and over. I pray you can find a community of women who will walk alongside you, encouraging you, praying for you, and speaking truth over your life. If you need a community like that–I pray you’ll find it at Equipped by Faith.
