New Year, New Testament Bible Reading Plan

new |n(y)o͞o| adjective1 not existing before; made, introduced, or discovered recently or now for the first time: A brand new year of hopes and dreams.

Hey girl! Happy New Year!

We’re moving into a new decade—a year of new promises, hopes, dreams, and goals—and this year, we’re making a new goal to read through the whole New Testament together. Join us!

If you have never read through the books of the New Testament, this is a perfect New Years resolution to make. We’re making it really simple too—with only 5 chapters per week (and two days to rest and reflect on what we’ve learned).

You can do this.

It only takes 5 minutes a day. If you’re not used to reading the Bible daily, the thought of reading through the whole thing can seem kind of daunting. But anyone can read one chapter a day. It only takes 5 minutes and if you stay consistent, you’ll read all 260 chapters by the end of the year! (Plus, you’ll start or end each day feeling inspired, motivated, and encouraged by the truth of God’s Words written for you!)

It’s only 5 days a week. When I want to get in shape physically, I have to motivate myself to work out at least 5 times a week. You won’t see positive results in your physical body if you don’t exercise—and it’s the same with your spiritual growth. Determine a time and location to spend at least 5 minutes a day 5 days a week in God’s presence, learning and growing from His Words written for you! It will work best to have a consistent time and a quiet place where you go to meet with God each day. This time will become sacred to you and you won’t want to go a day without it!

And as you read, I want to share 5 ways to dig deeper into the Word of God. Don’t just read to read. Pause and reflect on things that stand out to you. The following tips will really help you to understand, to remember, and to use God’s Word in your daily life!

1. Underline and highlight things you love from the passage.

2. Put each verse in your own words—write it on a sticky note and place it on your mirror as a reminder.

3. Ask questions about what you read and search for the answer.

4. Capture the big idea that stands out in each chapter.

5. Make it personal. God is going to speak to you as you read—write down what He says and how you’re going to live differently because of it.

The Bible is the most powerful and significant book in the world. It is filled with truth about God’s grace, mercy, love, and justice. I pray this year is one that moves you closer to the heart of God—closer to His divine plan and purpose for your life. I pray it is a year filled with new revelations of God’s goodness and love for you—and I can’t wait for the Bible to come alive to all of us as we read it together!

Happy New Year!

XO-

Sabrina
