Her Story: Taylor Madu
her |həː, hə| pronoun 1 used as the object of a verb or preposition to refer to a female person: she shared her story with the world.
I was so honored to have my dear friend, Taylor Madu, speak at our Equipped by Faith monthly gathering last night. Taylor is a lover of life and her ultimate goal is to love people back to the source of life, Jesus Christ. Her love for the Lord and for people are evident in her genuine transparency and her passion for enduring through every circumstance life has brought her way.
Taylor was born and raised in Arkansas. At age 18, she packed up everything she owned, moved to Texas, and never looked back. Texas has a special place in her heart. It is where she met her husband, Robert Madu, and began her journey of not only becoming a wife but also, her journey of motherhood. She delights in serving her family. Aside from wife and mommy duties, she loves any and every opportunity to speak into the lives of women by sharing the love and grace of Jesus.
Last night, she shared her personal journey of healing, restoration, hope, and freedom through Jesus Christ. I was beyond inspired and couldn't wait to share some of her heart with you today!
Q&A with Taylor Madu
1.) What do you think you were put on this earth for? What's your biggest dream in life?
The older I get the more I realize, I simply want to love people where they are. I never want to push and open any doors for myself, and assume that I am fulfilled by big platforms and being in relationship with people that have status, or money, or "things". Ultimately, all of that will fade away, but loving people to Jesus is eternal. Therefore, I feel most fulfilled and that my greatest calling is in serving my family, and loving and showing kindness to every person I come in contact with on a daily basis.
2.) What are some of the obstacles that you have had to go through to get to the point you are at now?
I have faced many obstacles in life, however, now that I am on the other side of them, I have a true appreciation. My obstacles have created in me a heart and compassion for people. I feel I am more relatable to people considering life hasn't been "easy" for me.
3.) What motivates/inspires you?
Music inspires me, good teachings on the word of God and great books.
4.) What do you want to be remembered by?
I want to be remembered for how kind I was to people, to anyone and everyone. That I was always an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend...with a true motive to love people, expecting nothing in return.
"True love and character are shown by how a person treats those who can do nothing for him…"
5.) What advice would you give other women searching for their purpose, passion & faith?
Embrace the season you are currently in. Find joy in it. The grass is always greener on the other side. If we keep reaching for things that are currently beyond us, we pass the opportunity that we currently have to simply soak up the good in the now. Love God. Love people, and remember God is in EVERYTHING. If you're a stay at home mom doing laundry and dirty dishes, do it with a smile, because God is in it. If you're a businesswoman, working from a computer all day, do it with a smile, because God is in it. If you're a waitress or a barista... a doctor or lawyer, a hairstylist... a pastor, a nursery caretaker... whatever your role is, trust and know that it is the place God has you for this season. So embrace it with everything you have and get happy!
6.) What has been your greatest achievement in life?
Overcoming the pain of my past.
7.) How does what you do reflect ministry, what God placed on your heart to share with the world?
True ministry is simply loving people--therefore, ministry oozes out of me. It comes as naturally to me as taking a breath. God is love, and so if I am being truly effective, I am simply loving people--which is the gospel.
8.) What books are you reading?
The Control Freak by Les Parrott III
The Broken Way: A Daring Path Into the Abundant Life by Ann Voskamp
Every Bitter Thing is Sweet by Sara Hagerty
The Amplified Bible by Joyce Meyer
9.) How do you stay encouraged and faith-filled?
I pray, read when I have time, listen to podcasts, and surround myself with people that can pour into my life.
10.) Favorite Scripture of the moment?
Psalm 91:9-16 "Because you have made the LORD your dwelling place, the Most High, who is my refuge, no evil will conquer you: no plague will come near our home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won't even hurt your foot on a stone. You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet. The Lord says I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.I will reward them with long life and give them my salvation."
