1. How are you pursuing your God-given purpose and destiny? And what is one thing you would say to encourage someone trying to pursue their God-given purpose today?
I am pursuing my God-given purpose and destiny by sharing kindness and understanding with each person I come in contact with. In all areas of life, we have an opportunity to be kind—at work, at home with our kids, and even at the grocery store. I want to encourage you to remember that often we may think we need to accomplish big things to make a difference in others' lives when the small, daily interactions can make the greatest impact.
2. What motivates or inspires you?
Giving back motivates me. Witnessing others come together for a cause brings me so much joy. The wonderful women I get to work with inspire me.
3. What books and podcasts are you currently reading and listening to that are helping you to continue growing and learning?
Right now I'm reading 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth by John Maxwell. It is helping me evaluate my accomplishments in 2018 and plan goals for 2019.
With a 30+minute daily commute, podcasts are a must for me. I love The Life Coach School with Brooke Castillo, and RISE by Rachel Hollis.
4. Tell us more about being a web designer and how you are using this to make an impact in Market Place Ministry.
I work as a freelance web designer. This allows me a unique opportunity to see behind the scenes of various businesses/industries. Most of my current clients happen to be women entrepreneurs and they inspire me every day. I try to be intentional with my client relationships by asking them about their lives and how I can pray for them. I have also learned there is great value in operating with integrity regardless of whether the client shares the same principles.
My favorite project I am currently working with is the nonprofit organization, @internationalesperanzaproject. IEP sends medical and community development teams to impoverished areas of Guatemala. Having the opportunity to use the talent God gave me to help this organization is a highlight of my career.
5. What do you love about Equipped by Faith?
I often struggle with my purpose and significance. Equipped by Faith encourages me to walk in my giftedness for God’s kingdom. This month, in the EBF daily readings, a verse stuck out to me so I printed it and keep it at my desk: 1 Peter 2: 9-10, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”
EBF reminds of God’s blessing on my life and how important it is to gather with other women who believe the same. As soon as I walk out of EBF, I feel filled up by the Holy Spirit, motivated to spend time with the Lord and love His people.
Thanks for inspiring us this month Katie! Be sure to follow her on her journey at @katierodriguez22 and www.katierod.com and stay tuned for our 2019 features!
